From fun and fancy to functional, remodeling awards reveal top projects
When it comes to spectacular remodeling projects in Colorado, one has to look no further than the Colorado Awards for Remodeling Excellence.
The Remodelers Council of Metro Denver hosts the CARE ceremony and after 20 years of pageantry, the projects are more stunning than ever.
The Remodelers Council is a local trade group that operates under the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver. Members of the Remodelers Council and others in the remodeling community compete for the prestigious awards.
Categories are separated by the types of projects and the cost. Thus, a $50,000 kitchen is not considered alongside a $400,000 whole-house remodel during judging. Most categories are hotly contested with multiple entrants that feature the latest and most innovative techniques and designs.
During the fall ceremony, Tommy Thompson of Colorado Classic Sunrooms in Denver was named 2007 Remodeler of the Year. Thompson, a long-time, active member of the Remodelers Council, also was the Remodelers Council president for 2007.
For the second year, Finished Basement Company in Denver swept the luxury basement category of $100,000-plus projects.
Doug Walter Architects in Denver won awards in seven different categories, which included a Pro Bono entry. Cambridge Construction Company in Foxfield took first place in three categories.
The CARE Awards were held at the Sewell Ballroom at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The awards were judged by industry experts and writers. For more information on the CARE Awards, call Jo Brogus at 303-551-6724 or visit www.hbadenver.com.
